About dramatic writing
Dramatic writing at IPA Studio explores how an initial idea can develop into a dramatic form that works for the stage. The programme is conducted in Turkish in Hamburg. Story, character, conflict, dialogue and dramatic structure are approached as interconnected parts of the writing process.
From an idea to dramatic structure
The work moves from exploring a subject and story toward developing characters, relationships and conflicts. Dialogue is considered not simply as a way to communicate information, but as a dramatic element capable of creating action, tension, character and subtext.
Developing the text
Dramatic writing also involves rewriting and learning to view one's material from different perspectives. Work on structure, scene, character and rhythm creates space to examine a text more clearly and to consider its relationship with the stage.
