About the acting programme
Acting at IPA Studio in Hamburg is approached as more than learning lines or shaping a role from the outside. Body, voice, attention, imagination and the relationship with a scene partner are explored as connected parts of stage practice. Classes are taught in Turkish and provide a space for developing a more aware, responsive and expressive presence on stage.
Approach and methods
Areas of work include acting approaches associated with Stanislavski, Michael Chekhov and Meisner, alongside Laban Movement Analysis, improvisation, physical acting, voice and speech, and ensemble work. These tools are used as different ways of investigating the relationships between body, impulse, action, partner and space rather than prescribing a single acting style.
Working together on stage
Alongside individual exploration, ensemble awareness is an important part of the work. Listening, responding, building relationships with scene partners and developing a shared rhythm all contribute to the practice. Improvisation and physical work also provide creative tools that support work with text and character.
